Online Sketch Club – Desk and Camera Setup Guide

You can enjoy the Online Sketch Club anywhere, with any types of devices and setups.

If you want to be more involved in the interactive workshop and share your sketch with me in real time, so I can provide you more indications and guidance, it is recommended to follow the live stream with an external webcam pointing towards your drawing.

It doesn’t need to be anything advanced, here is what you will need.

WHAT DO YOU NEED

HOW TO SETUP YOUR CAMERA

1.  Clip your external webcam on the phone holder and adjust it to be positioned above your drawing area. ( See examples).

Make sure to have enough space around you to draw comfortably.

2.  Download and Install OBS Studio. You can find the link here: https://obsproject.com/

3.  Start OBS Studio

4.  Create a New Scene and rename it ‘Top View’

5.  In the Source window right click, go to Add Source and click on Video Capture Device.

6.  Double Click on Video Capture Device to open the setting window. In ‘Device’ select your external webcam, you should be seeing the image preview on screen. If the image is upside down, tick the Flip Vertical box.

7. Click on the ‘Start Virtual Camera’ button.

8.  In Zoom, go to Video (the camera logo) and select OBS Virtual Camera as your camera.

You can change between your Laptop camera and OBS camera at any time during the workshop.
